So what is a Soap Berry?
Soap berries (soapnuts) are actually a fruit that come from the Ritha tree grown wild in India and Nepal. There are two varieties. Their real names are Sapindus Trifoliatus (Small Soap Nut) and Sapindus Mukorossi (Large Soap Nut). Here at The Natural Soap Berry Co. we stock Sapindus Mukorossi.
Soap berries are a totally chemical free product - a 100% natural detergent!
They are:

Soap berries (aka soapnuts) are what is produced when the berry casing or shell is cracked open and dried in the sun. Soap berries contain a high percentage of saponins which is a natural soap that removes dirt and oils when dispersed in water.
Soap berries create a mild sud that is highly effective and gentle. As there are no artificial foaming agents, there are very few bubbles created. The mildness of the soap keeps colours bright, maintaining fabric structure. Soap berries can be used on all fabrics and at all temperatures.
As they are a natural product they are allergy free and have been found to be especially good for eczema and sensitive skin.
Your clothing will be left fragrance free after washing with soap berries! As the soap they produce is so gentle, there is no need to use fabric softeners.
Did we mention they are eco-friendly?
One you have finished using soap berries, you can compost them in your garden as they are 100% biodegradable. They are antimicrobial which means they actually help in breaking down the grey water too!
